Ulysses
Dublin, June 16, 1904. Advertising salesman Leopold Bloom goes about his day: he attends a funeral, visits a newspaper, eats lunch, wanders the streets, and tries not to think about the fact that his wife, Molly, is meeting her lover that afternoon. Meanwhile, the young writer Stephen Dedalus searches for his place in the world.
Modeled on Homer's Odyssey, Joyce's novel follows an ordinary day in extraordinary detail, changing its style from chapter to chapter and ending with Molly's famous monologue. Once banned, now celebrated, it is one of the most influential novels ever written.
