Sayat-Nova, the great eighteenth-century minstrel of Tiflis, wrote love songs in Armenian, Georgian, and Azerbaijani — songs about the beloved, beauty, longing, and the transience of life.
His songs are still sung today, and his life inspired Sergei Parajanov's film "The Color of Pomegranates."
