Герой нашего времени
Grigory Pechorin, a young officer in the Caucasus, is brilliant, bored, and cruel. He seduces women, provokes duels, and plays with other people's lives, while analyzing his own emptiness in his diary.
Lermontov's novel, told through five linked stories, is a pioneering psychological novel and the portrait of a whole "superfluous" generation.
