Zohrap, a lawyer, politician, and master of the Armenian short story, writes about life in late Ottoman Constantinople: passions, betrayals, the poverty of migrant workers, and the inner lives of women and men caught in social conventions.
His concise, psychologically sharp stories are classics of Western Armenian literature. Zohrap was murdered during the Armenian Genocide in 1915.
