Գուրգեն Մահարի · 1966 · Ռեալիզմ
Gurgen Mahari returns in memory to his childhood in the city of Van on the eve of the 1915 Genocide: the gardens, the neighbors, the political parties, the idealistic young revolutionaries, and the catastrophe that destroyed it all.
Published in 1966, Mahari's novel provoked fierce debates for its unconventional, ironic view of history. Today it is considered one of the most important Armenian novels of the twentieth century.
