Անլռելի զանգակատուն
Պարույր Սևակ · 1959 · Պոեզիա
A poem-tower dedicated to Komitas, the composer and priest who collected Armenian folk songs and lost his mind after witnessing the Armenian Genocide of 1915. Through his life, Sevak tells the story of a whole nation — its catastrophe, its silence, and the music that survived.
Published in 1959, "The Unsilenceable Belfry" was one of the first major works in Soviet Armenia to speak openly about the Genocide. Its ringing lines became a voice of memory, and its title a symbol of a people that cannot be silenced.
